Easy Everyday Hairstyles For Medium Hair
Half Hair Braids Updo
This hairdo is so simple and yet it looks like you could have got it done from a salon. It can be achieved with very little effort and it gives your tresses a very chic look.
The hairstyle would look even more pretty if you accessorized it with tiny flowers or pearls.
Things that you will need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
- Hair clips (optional)
How to create this style
- Prep your hair for styling, detangle and comb it
- Divide your front bangs into two sections
- Braid the bangs on either side and tie them up with rubber bands
- Let the rest of your hair open and flowing
- Pull the braids from either side and keep securing them using bobby pins.
- Overlap the braids one on top of the other
- You can curl the open section of your hair or make it wavy. Leaving it straight is also a good option
- Accessorize the braids with tiny flowers or butterfly pins or pearls.
French Braid Updo
This beautiful hairdo is so tidy yet so elegant.
I especially recommend the French braid for women with straight jawlines. It gives a neat look to your hair and brings out any highlights too!
Things that you need to create this style-
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
- Section Comb
- Accessories (optional)
How to create this style-
- First, comb your hair well and detangle it completely
- Comb your hair to pull it backward
- Take a small section of your hair near the forehead and divide it into three equal sections like you would do before you start a simple braid.
- Now start pulling each section of the left over hair one by one to add them to your braid till all your hair is secured in one braid.
- Secure the hairdo using a rubber band and use bobby pins for the side locks just in case they are jutting out.
- You can again add accessories like flowers, colorful pins.
Two Braided Buns Updo
This hairdo is ideal for women who are more physically active. If you're a tomboy who doesn't wish to let her hair down but also wants to make an impact.
Though this hairdo is more popular among people with long hair, it is just as easily achievable with medium-length hair too.
Combine them with oversized earrings and if you had fringes, you would be hitting 100% on the Cute-o-meter!
Things you need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
How to create this style-
- Firstly divide your hair into two sections using a comb
- Now comb and detangle your hair thoroughly
- Flip your hair up and start braiding the hair in a French braid, only this time you will be braiding it upwards instead of the usual downward French braid.
- Braid the hair only till your head and then secure the braid using a rubber band
- Repeat this on the other section of your hair too
- Turn the remaining section of the hair into a bun on top of your head on either side and secure it using rubber bands and bobby pins. (I would personally prefer not to accessorize this hairdo with anything)
Half Hair Messy Bun Updo
This messy updo is one of my most favorites as it is just as effortless to make as it is to look.
You could sport this hair style along with your denims and tees and also adorn it with accessories for a special occasion.
It is a classic choice of hairstyle for school or even a date.
Things you need to create this look-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
- Curling iron
- Accessories (optional)
How to create this look-
- Comb your hair properly and detangle it completely
- Divide your hair into two sections horizontally
- First separate your bangs and then tie the upper half section of the hair, which is the crown, into a pony tail using a rubber band.
- Braid the tied section of your hair and secure the end of the braid using a rubber band.
- Twist the braid into a bun and pin it up on your crown.
- Now slowly pull your hair outwards from the braid but do not open it completely. Make sure the braid is intact while you are doing so.
- The curling iron is optional. If your hair is straight then you will require a curling iron to curl the rest of your hair to make it look wavy.
Braided Bun Updo
If you are searching for one hairstyle that could make you look like the queen at work or at brunch amongst your friends, then this is it.
This braided bun hairstyle will help in highlighting your face just enough and the braid gives your tresses a very decorative feel.
Things you need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
How to create this style-
- Start by combing your hair properly and removing all knots to have tangle free hair
- Now divide your hair into four sections vertically
- Braid each section of your hair as shown in the picture and secure all of them using rubber bands.
- Pick the center two braids and tie them up into a bun at the lower end of your head.
- Now pick either one of the front section braids and pull them back to wrap them around the bun.
- Repeat this with the other section too
- Secure the braids on the bun using bobby pins to create a bun that is made of layers of braided hair.
Waterfall Hair Updo
This hairdo looks just as its name suggests, like a waterfall.
The hairdo could look a little complicated however, if you got the trick once, you could definitely master this hairdo.
If you have medium-length hair that is thinning out, this hairdo makes your tresses look bouncy and full of volume.
It is basically a side French braid that does not secure the entire section of your hair.
Things that you will need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
How to create this style-
- Begin by combing your hair to detangle it completely.
- Part the front section of your hair sideways on whichever side you would prefer.
- Begin by making a French braid for this front section of your hair
- You will need to go sideways while creating this French braid and pull it towards the back of your head and onto the other side.
- Make sure that the braid is tied only on the top half section of your hair horizontally.
- Once the braid is done, secure it using a rubber band and use bobby pins to pin it.
Twisties in a Ponytail
If you're looking for a hairdo that can allow you to get your hands dirty as well as look like you are dressed up to do so, twisties in a ponytail is exactly the one.
Just as the name suggests, the hairstyle gives a contemporary twist to the ponytail and is ideal for chefs, painters, and even stay-at-home mommies.
This hairdo looks fabulous on people with both medium length and straight or wavy hair textures.
Things you need to create this look-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Accessories (optional)
How to create this look-
- Like every other hairdo, for this style also begins by combing your hair thoroughly to detangle it.
- Separate the front most section of your hair into two parts and join them and the back of your head to secure it into a ponytail using a rubber band.
- Loosen the ponytail slightly so that you are able to twist it towards the inside of your head and pull it out.
- Repeat this till there are enough twisties to give you volume.
- Now lift all your hair together to tie it up into one single ponytail slightly above your neck.
- You can free a few strands of hair around your jawline to make it look more casual and effortless.
- You can accessorize this hairdo if it is for a special occasion.
Side Dutch Braid
One of the most gorgeous and ornamental hairstyles that I ever came across is the side dutch braid.
Things you need to create this style:
- Comb
- Rubber bands
How to create this style-
- Firstly divide your hair vertically into two sections from the centre of your head till the crown and comb them thoroughly, ensuring it is well detangled.
- Then pull all your hair to the right or left shoulder.
- From the same side, start tying your hair up sideways in a French braid, slowly including all your hair into the braid.
- Secure this braid on the shoulder using a rubber band.
- There you are, just that simple, the side dutch braid.
Single Twisty Updo
I call it the one-minute hairstyle. That is because this hairdo requires just as less effort as it requires time.
It's a quick fix for sudden plans or engagements that you or your hair were not prepared for.
Things you need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber band
How to create this style-
- As usual, comb your hair thoroughly, detangle it.
- Divide the front section of your hair in two parts.
- Tie these two sections together at the back of your head in a pony tail and secure it using a rubber band.
- Keep turning the pony tail towards the inside of your head till it creates enough twisties to give your hair a little volume.
- Loosen the twisted section of your hair to make it look slightly messy
- That's it! There's a quick fix to your plain Jane looking hair.
Flip French Braid Donut Updo
As wondrous as the name makes it sound, so will the hairstyle look.
And I know you won't trust me till you try it, but this hairdo is just as simple as any other high-tied bun.
Just add a braid to it and you will give your bun an accessory.
Things you need to create this style-
- Comb
- Rubber bands
- Bobby pins
How to create this style-
- Detangle your hair well by combing it thoroughly
- Flip your head down so all your hair is collected around the crown.
- Now start braiding your hair upwards into a French braid from the neck towards the centre of your head and secure it using a rubber band just there.
- Tuck the rest of your hair and roll it up into a bun. There, you're done!
